About Xanadu Zanzibar
Xanadu Villas and Retreat opened in 2016 and has become the go-to destination for boutique luxury on Zanzibar Island. There are six uniquely designed private villas, each with beach access and plunge pool. Three of the villas comprise of one bedroom and three comprise of two bedrooms with separate lounge and dining area or roof terrace.
Xanadu is perfect for couples and families alike who desire privacy. The resort can be hired exclusively but usually the villas are sold individually to those wanting romance and privacy. Here guests can enjoy all inclusive exceptional cuisine prepared by our world renowned chef and private butlers who are there to assist you throughout your stay.
The name Zanzibar conjures up exotic and romantic images, Zanzibar Island is an archipelago made up of Zanzibar and Pemba Island, and several islets. Zanzibar Island is located in Indian Ocean, about 40km from the Tanzanian coast. Zanzibar Island, known locally as Unguja, is 96km long and 32km wide, occupying a total area of approximately 1040 square km. Zanzibar Island has beautiful sandy beached with fringing coral reefs and the magic of historic Stone Town – the only functioning ancient town in East Africa.
Xanadu is situated on the South East beach of Zanzibar and is approximately one hour from Zanzibar airport and the historic Stone Town (65km).
How to get there

Zanzibar International Airport is also named Abeid Amani Karume Airport and is located approximately 6 kilometres (3.7 miles) south of Stone Town.
For guests arriving into Dar Es Salaam airport, domestic flights are very convenient and time efficient, with a flying time of just 20 minutes, while there is also the option of the ferry.
50 minute drive from Abeid Amani Karume International Airport to Xanadu resort on an excellent road to the south east part of the Island.

When to go
Zanzibar is a year round destination but it can rain heavily in April. February is the hottest month, and June to October is cooler and dry. Xanadu closes from 15th April until 30th May.

In accordance with the local culture of Zanzibar and out of respect for the local people, please note that it is illegal to sunbathe topless. For female visitors, when arriving at the airport, please try and cover up your knees and shoulders with a shawl or long skirt.
In an effort to preserve the fragile marine environment, please note that the Law of Zanzibar strictly prohibits the collection of shells or corals from the sea or reef.
The dress code for dinner is smart casual and gentlemen are requested to wear long trousers and shoes.

Travelling with children
No children under five please, however five and older are welcome. Xanadu will accommodate all families in their slightly bigger villas.
