About The River Club
The River Club is a charming oasis, located on an magnificent vantage point that provides stunning views of the Zambezi River. Privately owned and managed, this boutique lodge is situated 18 kilometers upstream from the renowned Victoria Falls â a World Heritage Site. Overlooking the river and pods of hippo into the Zambezi National Park, the luxury chalets are renowned for their spectacular views. Steeped in history, ranging from the establishment of Livingstone as a settler trading post, to a gateway for displaced people after World War II, and more recently a destination for Royal travellers and Hollywood stars.
The River Club is located 18km upstream of the Victoria Falls on the Zambezi River outside the town of Livingstone, with easy road access into the lodge for guests arriving by road from other destinations in the area.
How to get there
All flights arrive into Livingstone Airport. From here, guests can be collected by The River Club's private, air-conditioned vehicles for the 30 minute drive to the banks of the Zambezi River, followed by a 10 minute scenic boat transfer to The River Club.
When to go
The winters are dry and warm to cool during the day but cold in the evening, spring is warm and cool in the evening, heating up to the summer where the temperatures remain hot throughout the day and night. The River Club is open year round. The Zambezi reaches its highest water levels during the months of March and April.
The River Club is in a low-risk malaria zone.
Two Luxury River Suites and the Luxury River Family Suite offer wheelchair access.
Travelling with children
The River Club is an ideal destination for families with children aged 6 years and older. Set on a 50
acre secure property with sprawling gardens, the lodge provides the perfect setting for young ones
to run around in and explore.
Young guests receive a âKids at the Clubâ adventure bag on arrival, including a booklet featuring
activities to complete and an insect catch and release kit. Under the supervision of parents, children
have the opportunity to build their own raft with a raft building kit (featuring eco materials such as
driftwood, rope and fabric for a sail). The adventure kit aims to get children outdoors and to appreciate the nature around them.
