Why we recommend Vietnam

About Vietnam

I have travelled extensively in Vietnam over the past 10 years, each time staying for at least three weeks.

Hop on seaplanes to Halong Bay, overnight trains to Sapa, explore Mai Chau by kayak, Hoi An on a bicycle and Vespa’s in Saigon.

I still find new places to explore. With tourism as ever booming, we are always in search of untouched spots. Visit idyllic Mai Chau and locals in their stilted houses, explore the caves in Dong Hoi and take a few nights to explore the Mekong Delta.

Vietnam prides itself in being one of the most exotic and cultural destinations in Asia. With endless miles of beautiful coastline, a diverse range of UNESCO world heritage sites and buzzing cities bursting with street food stalls, it really does have it all.

Why Travel to Vietnam with True Luxury Travel?

Routeings in Vietnam can be incredibly complex. Vietnam curls around the East Sea but also neighbours with Laos and Cambodia to the West. This makes these three destinations popular countries to combine together. I can help piece together a sensible route which avoids too much travelling.

Being a very long and thin country, the weather is very interchangeable. When the weather's not ideal in one area, it will be in the next which makes it a country that can be visited all year round. Having said that, you do need to know when’s best to visit where. You don’t want to find yourself with five nights on a secluded island at the wrong time of year.

It is our passion to create unforgettable, unique experiences for our guests and we are always transparent on price.

How it works

Give us a call to harness our knowledge and be inspired. Whether your first or tenth trips to Asia, we can shed some light on some exciting new places to check out.

Once we have spoken to you the team work on creating an itinerary to suit your preferences and budget, this can then be tweaked and amended until it is perfect.

We support you before you go away with all the information you require, no request is too big or too small, when you are away we are always on hand with 24/7 support should you need us.

Head to the highlands to appreciate Vietnam's cultural diversity at its richest. Being very secluded up here, the locals experience minimal contact with the outside world, they speak their own languages and many continue to wear traditional clothing. Budding anthropologists and hearty hikers can disappear into the stunning mountains, known to many as the Tonkinese Alps, where you can visit the hill tribes and enjoy a seriously good trek.

The buzz of a Vietnamese city is unbeatable and seeing as the country is studded with historic cities, you should experience more than one on your journey through Vietnam. Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City (formerly known as Saigon) are the most popular but Hue's former Imperial Citadel is also on many hit lists with its fabled Perfume Lake. It still bears the marks of its royal past.

Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam and it is the second most populous city in the country with approximately 4 million people. Hanoi is more traditional and refined than Ho Chi Minh City. Today it is best known for its thriving contemporary art scene and French architecture, a great place to start. In every Vietnamese city you will spot scooters piled high with goods, street vendors with their beaming smiles and experience the locals going about their local business, it's an intriguing sight.

From Hanoi, head North to experience the limestone cliffs of Halong Bay and the Gulf of Tomkin on a small vessel. Halong Bay, the 'Bay of the Descending Dragon' is sometimes referred to as the eighth wonder of the world. It's certainly known for its spectacular scenery and eery cave and the karst limestone mountains.

Those looking for relaxation and luxury on the beach have a plethora of areas to choose from, from Spa hotels on the Central Coast in Nha Trang and charming island retreats which are a short boat ride away at Con Dao or Ninh Van Bay.

On the central coast, there's Hoi An where chic travellers can shop for tailor-made suits in Hoi An’s buzzing markets, while food-lovers linger amongst aromatic street food cafes, and learn a trick or two in one of the many Vietnamese cookery classes.

It’s now possible to fly into Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi, direct with Vietnam Airlines. I love this as typically Vietnam involves a few flights, but this takes out two flights. Alternatively, people have city stops in Hong Kong and Bangkok.

The buzz of a Vietnamese city is unbeatable and seeing as you are likely to start your trip here, it will start your holiday with a bang. An action packed trip featuring junk boats up in Halong Bay, hikes up the Tonkinese Alps, Vespa foodie tours, cooking classes and plenty of culture will make you ready for the beach. We can guide you to select the best beaches and accommodation options throughout your adventure.

Neighbouring Laos and Cambodia, people hop from one country to the next. A popular routeing is to fly from the Central Coast of Vietnam, over to Siem Reap, Cambodia to visit the UNESCO world heritage site of Angkor Wat and the charming countryside surrounding it. It is also just one flight to Luang Prabang, the increasingly popular spiritual town in Laos.

Test Us

One of my biggest challenges was coordinating four families Easter holidays to Vietnam. All of which were flying by different routes, on similar but not the same dates. I managed to coordinate their time in Halong Bay on junk boats that would travel side by side and tailored countryside ox cart experiences, picnics and boat trips to the Cham Islands for the families in Hoi An.

It is recommended that you consult with your General Practitioner or Practice Nurse 6-8 weeks in advance of travel. They will assess your particular health risks before recommending vaccines and /or antimalarial tablets. This is also a good opportunity to discuss important travel health issues including safe food and water, accidents, sun exposure and insect bites. Many of the problems experienced by travellers cannot be prevented by vaccinations and other preventive measures need to be taken.
