About The Oyster Bay Hotel
Staying at the Oyster Bay is like staying with friends - everything has been planned around your stay. As soon as you arrive at this small, luxurious hotel you will be pampered by their friendly staff who cater to your every need. It does not matter what time you arrive and how long you stay, there will always be something appropriate whether it is breakfast, morning coffee and cakes, lunch, afternoon tea, cocktails or dinner and a night cap. Nothing is too much to ask.
This beautiful large home and garden has eight luxurious ocean facing guest suites, which are spacious to the extreme. The fabulously furnished suites reflect modern day Africa. Extensive lounges and terraces overlook mature gardens in the timeless setting of the thriving Dar es Salaam.
The Oyster Bay gardens are a beauty to behold. They have been professionally landscaped with an eccentric style, while in keeping with tropical surroundings with fig and flamboyant trees that are at the heart of this mature garden. This is a garden to enjoy, with lots of shady deck space, reclining sun chairs and an opportunity for the more energetic in the form of a lap pool.
Practical info
Location
The Oyster Bay is located in the centre of the Oyster Bay area of Dar es Salaam facing the ocean on Tourre Drive. It is a fifteen minute drive from the centre of the city.
How to get there
The Oyster Bay has its own fleet of chauffeur driven vehicles that collect guests from the port or airport and return them to the airport for their onward flight. Both domestic and international airports are approx. 30 minutes drive from the hotel.
When to go
The Oyster Bay Hotel is open all year round. Dar es Salaam is located on the East Coast of Africa 6 degrees south of the Equator. It has an equatorial climate and high humidity and can get quite steamy. The rainy seasons of March to May and November/December can bring dramatic torrential rain, but it is usually of short duration followed by brilliant sunshine.
Important Information
Travelling with children
Children under 12 years of age will receive a 25% reduction on the standard rates.
The Oyster Bay welcomes children and they have a small number of extra 'fold up' beds to allow a child to stay in the same suite as the parents. There are two separate floors containing a double and a twin-bedded room that, whilst not adjoining, would be suitable for a 'family' giving total privacy. There are facilities for children who would no doubt enjoy the lap pool and extensive gardens and there is also the internet connection in the Study. Meals are not a problem as children can eat what they want, when they want.
