About Serian's Serengeti North
Decorated in classic Safari style with large beds and opulent rugs, the six lavish Meru styled tents are deeply romantic. Swathes of cotton soften the luxuriant bedroom furniture. There are five individual tents and one family unit, each with its own en-suite bathroom fitted with a bucket shower flowing with warm water in a generous spray, and flushing loos.
There are forty odd staff at the guest's beck and call, starting their day by serving you early morning tea in the comfort of your bed; organising your laundry and arranging menus with the chefs. Safari guides organise picnic breakfasts, lunches and sundowners with whatever drinks you require. Your tent staff will also take any shoes that require cleaning in the evening returning them to you with your morning tea.
All meals are communal and evening dining is always around a large oval table in the mess tent, preceded by drinks and nibbles around the campfire under the starry African sky.
The camp can be reserved exclusively giving you ultimate privacy but with the use of your own private vehicle, guide and spotter, other campers will seem few and far between. This also offers you excellent flexibility according to what exactly you want to do during your time at the Serengeti North Camp.
There is also the fantastic opportunity to combine walking with 3-4 nights flycamping for a real taste of the Northern Serengeti.
This little-known area in northern Serengeti full of secret valleys and ranging hills, has the Mara river running through it. The Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya lies close by across the border. Kogatende also known as Wogakuria offers great quality game viewing, but with a lower density vehicle volume at the crossings in Northern Serengeti than in the Masai Mara in Kenya.

When to go
The camp is open from 1st July to mid-November.
Tanzania: Wildebeest river crossings: the early herds explode across the water in their hundreds of thousands. They then break off into smaller herds & faction off for grazing. Grass fires in June/July herald new shoots. Roughly half the population stay in Tanzania, and half in Kenya, crossing back and forth over the Mara River following storms, chased by predators, and seeking grazing.
Tanzania: Great lion sightings toward Kenyan border, and rhino are visible around Makutano/Balagonja. The river is focal: crocodiles killing wildebeest, hippos lounging, elephant meandering along and up into camp. With the grass grazed back, oribi, warthog and buffalo are easy to spot, and rock hyrax & klipspringer seek protective vantage points in the kopjes as the tall grass vanishes. A great time to witness ostriches mating too.
The Tanzanian Government requires everybody over the age of 1 to have a valid Yellow Fever vaccination certificate if you are arriving from a country (even in transit) with a Yellow Fever risk.
Malarial protection is recommended.
The camp is also available on an exclusive basis.
