About Lamai Serengeti Camp
Lamai Serengeti Private Camp adjoins the Main Camp and has the same expansive views from the vantage point of the Kogakuria Kopje in the Northern Serengeti. With just four rooms, a cosy private lounge, dining room and pool, the camp allows for total privacy and flexibility. Between explorations with a dedicated guide, groups of family and friends everyone can really relax, enjoy and feel at home here.
Each of the 4 open-fronted rooms have en-suite bathrooms (the children's annex shares a bathroom with their parents room) and are designed to fit into the complex geometry of the kopje, to make the most of this sensational location in the far north of the Serengeti National Park. The Lamai Serengeti Private Camp has been designed with the elements in mind, to take maximum advantage of the view, the sun, the wind and even the rain when it comes.
This camp is much suited to the people who enjoy comfort and style without being over the top. Perfect for families, private groups and honeymooners.
This area of lush, rolling grassland and tree-lined watercourses is the hub around which the Serengeti migration circulates. During the dry season, the herds mass on both banks of the Mara River, frequently crossing and braving the crocs. But even a brief visit to Lamai Serengeti at any time of year will demonstrate that it's not all about the migration. Unlike the southern plains of the Serengeti that dry out, forcing all but the hardiest of species to leave, this area remains lush and green.
There's a collective sigh of relief from the resident game when the one and a half million migrating wildebeest - and the madness that attends them - leave town for a few months. And the resident game at Lamai Serengeti is spectacular. Plains game in the form of zebra, topi, gazelles, impala, buffalo and giraffe all frequent the area throughout the year. Lion are rarely far away and leopard, ever present, but always elusive, stalk the rocky kopjes and river lines.
