About Entamanu Camp
Perched on the very rim of the eastern side of the infamous Ngorongoro Crater, Entamanu Ngorongoro Camp offers its guests unrivalled views overlooking the rim to the crater floor beyond, as well as a view to the north and west where the vast plains of the Serengeti begin and the Olduvai Gorge winds its way through the landscape.
This eco-conscious camp will provide its guest with 6 spacious and stylish rooms, each with their own bathroom. The rooms and dining room will also have a heating system to while away those sometimes chilly nights. Every effort has been made to ensure that the construction of the camp has not disturbed either the environment or the wildlife and, as a result, Entamanu Camp blends seamlessly into its surroundings.
The camp's ideal location ensures that guests will be some of the first down into the crater to explore the beautiful area.
As the worldâs largest intact volcanic caldera, the crater is a diverse mix of marshland, plains, and acacia woodlands. Several springs intersect the crater floor providing a permanent water source to sustain 25,000 animals, which includes all of the Big Five.
Entamanu Camp provides a range of incredible shared and private activities with expert guides to the Crater and Ngorongoro Highlands as well as Masai cultural interactions.
Entamanu Ngorongoro Camp is located high on the rim of The Ngorongoro Crater. The Ngorongoro Crater is located in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area,180 km west of Arusha.
How to get there
Regular schedule flights from Arusha/Dar/Zanzibar and other areas of Tanzania, to Manyara Airstrip which is around 2hrs road transfer to camp.
Entamanu is also easy driving distance from Arusha, Tarangire, Karatu and the Serengeti.
When to go
Ngorongoro Conservation Area has a mild, temperate climate. The area experiences two wet seasons:
From October to December there are the 'short' rains. This is followed by the 'long rains' from March to May. The crater never gets very hot during the day, but the crater rim gets cold and it can freeze at night. During the wet season the crater turns green and lush and wildlife are in abundance.
The dry season occurs between June and October. Afternoon temperatures are usually around 19°C on the crater floor and sunny, cloudless skies are normal. In terms of the best weather- this would be the time to go.
Travelling with children
Entamanu is child friendly and the staff at the camp much enjoy hosting families. However, for safety reasons and with consideration for other clients, children must be a minimum of 8 years. This restriction extends to a minimum of 12 years on any walking safari activity. All children stay at their parents' own risk. Child rate applicable to U21s sharing with another child or adult; a child occupying a single room will be charged at full adult rate.
