About Sanbona Tilney Manor
Tilney Manor is located in Sanbona Wildlife Reserve in the Western Cape. This luxurious lodge and peaceful haven has breathtaking vistas of both the mountains and the plains of the Little Karoo, making it ideal for relaxing after excellent daytime safaris adventures.Â
The lodge itself consists of six large open-plan suites, sleeping a maximum of two adults each, which have their own private verandas with panoramic views of the reserve.
The Sanbona wildlife reserve is seated at the foot of the Warmwaterberg Mountain Range in the heart of Africaâs Little Karoo.
How to get there
Intermational flights to Cape town and approximately 270 kms from Cape Town. The travelling time on the dirt road, from the main gate, to Tilney Manor is approximately 45 mins.
Take the N1 highway in the direction of Paarl - There is a tollgate on this road, just before the Huguenot Tunnel.
Once through the tunnel, take the second turnoff to the right into Worcester (R60) - Follow the signs towards Robertson.
Drive through Robertson, still on the R60 into Ashton.
Proceed through Ashton - the R60 becomes the R62.
Carry on through Kogmanskloof and Montagu for about 43km.
Turn left at âDie Vlakteâ and Sanbona Wildlife Reserve sign.
Continue for 7km to reach the main entrance.
Proceed for another 15km to reach the Welcome Lounge.
Guests with suitable or 4x4 vehicles can drive themselves to their lodge from the main gate.
If youâre driving to your lodge yourself, itâs important to take note of the following:
Please follow the relevant signs in the reserve.
The recommended speed limit is 40km per hour.
Do not exit your vehicle as predators roam free.
The main gate closes at 18h00, should your arrival time be later, please advise prior to arrival in order to make arrangements.
When to go
South Africa enjoys a warm climate year-round. For the duration of the colder months, Â (April â September) you can expect Â temperatures that range from 7 â 22Â°C. During the warmer months (October â March), temperatures range Â from Â 16 â 36Â°C. Pack shorts, T-shirts, swimming costumes, long trousers and a light jersey or fleece. Rainfall is generally low and scarce, averaging only 2 or 3 days per month.
Transfers can be arranged with reservations on request at an additional cost.
Travelling with children
Children under 4 are not allowed on safari, but we do have childminding services available on request, in addition to a host of kidâs activities to keep the little ones occupied while you enjoy your safari.
