Famous for the great winds and strong currents, many explorers’ ships were wrecked on this coast, hence the very fitting name of Shipwreck Lodge. This stunning lodge has been designed to resemble the shipwrecks that line Namibia’s beachfront on which the lodge sits on. Each of the rooms is solar powered and has a private en-suite bathroom, along with a wood burning stove to keep you warm on the chilly evenings. The intricately designed lounge and restaurant overlooks the sweeping sand dunes all the way over to the Atlantic Ocean. Despite the apparently arid landscape, game viewing at Namibia’s Shipwreck Lodge is definitely not limited. Desert-adapted elephants, giraffe and lion roam in the surrounding areas, whilst the ocean houses Cape fur seals, and birdlife is abundant. If you’re lucky, you may even spot a brown hyena or two.
