How to get there
The closest international airport is Tromso. The flight time between London and Tromso is 4.5 hours.
Once in Tromso, you have the choice of a road transfer through the scenic islands and mountain passes. This trip takes 3 hours and allows you to take in the beauty of the region by land.
There is also the option of the 25 minute flight from Tromso to Sorkjosen, and a 15 minute drive to the lodge.
When to go
From the start of the November to the end of January it is predominantly dark with the lightest times of the day resembling twilight during the winter months in the United Kingdom. The best times of the year to see the northern lights are in October prior the sun no longer rising and anytime in February or March. Between April and August, the days are longer and the weather is warmer and the sun will not set at the peak of the summer months.
Lyngen Lodge is situated in the arctic circle. This means that for part of the year the area is covered in snow and experiences very low temperatures. As a result, we recommend warm, waterproof clothing for outdoor activities and suitable footwear for cold conditions.
Travelling with children
Children of all ages are welcome.
There are certain activities that have age restrictions for health and safety reasons.
