How to get there
Driving from Auckland (allow 6 hours)
Air New Zealand operates at least 8 scheduled flights daily from Auckland (55 minutes) or Wellington (50 minutes) to Napier (Hawke's Bay) Airport. The aircrafts are either 68-seat ATR Aerospatiale twin turbo-prop or 50-seat Dash 8. Charter jets and propeller planes can also be organised. The travel time from Napier Airport to The Farm at Cape Kidnappers is 45 minutes.
Helicopters operate nationwide, and travel from Auckland, Wellington or Taupo can be arranged. Travel direct to Cape Kidnappers from Auckland is approximately 1 hour 45 minutes, Wellington flight time is 1 hour 20 minutes and from Taupo the flight time is 30-35 minutes.
When to go
The weather tends to be pretty unpredictable. That said, it means that you can go at any time of year and still get glorious days. At the bottom of the world (or top, depending on how you look at it!) the seasons are opposite to the Northern Hemisphereâs and most people who visit New Zealand choose to go during their summer season, which is December through February.
The risks to health whilst travelling will vary between individuals and many issues need to be taken into account, e.g. activities abroad, length of stay and general health of the traveller. It is recommended that you consult with your General Practitioner or Practice Nurse 6-8 weeks in advance of travel.
Travelling with children
Every day, The Farm at Cape Kidnappers welcomes families of all sizes and ages. Jet-setting generations choose this lodge for the educational, interactive and destination-inspired activities they offer family travelers. And once on property, they delight in the convenience of having attentive, family-friendly staff to curate their experiences.
They offer a children's menu with classic favourites sourced from local farms. All of the suites are stocked daily with fresh-baked cookies and brownies from their kitchen and fresh fruit is also served in-room daily.
They are happy to provide you with any and all of the little luxuries to make a stay with them as easy as possible, including babysitter services, toys, games, supplies and more.
