About Solitaire Lodge
Solitaire Lodge was one of the first of its kind in New Zealand, offering Luxury accommodation from a lakeside location. Throughout the Lodge you have spectacular views of Lake Tarawera and Mt. Tarawera Volcano though large windows, giving you a sense of calm and the ability to unwind after the day's activities. You can arrange to have a massage in your suite and enjoy the onsite restaurant serving food and wine from the surrounding area.
Practical info
Location
Solitaire Lodge is located on the North Island of New Zealand on a beautiful peninsula overlooking Lake Tarawera and Mt. Tarawera Volcano.
How to get there
After a 23hour flight inclusive of a stop over you will arrive in Auckland, where you can take a short flight to Rotorua for a 20 minutes transfer to the Lodge. Private helicopter transfers are available giving you a birds eye view of the amazing landscapes.
When to go
The weather tends to be pretty unpredictable. That said, it means that you can go at any time of year and still get glorious days. At the bottom of the world (or top, depending on how you look at it!) the seasons are opposite to the Northern Hemisphere's and most people who visit New Zealand choose to go during their summer season, which is December through February.
Important Information
The risks to health whilst travelling will vary between individuals and many issues need to be taken into account, e.g. activities abroad, length of stay and general health of the traveller. It is recommended that you consult with your General Practitioner or Practice Nurse 6-8 weeks in advance of travel.
Travelling with children
Not the ideal place to take children. The Lodge doesn't have as much to offer for children as some other lodges do.
