About Belmond Governor's Residence
The Governor's Residence is a romantic, colonial-style mansion set in beautiful gardens dotted with lotus pools. The mansion dates back to the 1920's and is one of the most timeless luxury hotels in Yangon. The hotel is a unique, tranquil haven and remarkably only minutes from the city centre, located in the embassy quarter. The beautiful, fan-shaped pool is the perfect place to relax after a day spent exploring the city. The exotic gardens, fan-cooled verandas and carved teak details conjure up the elegance of a bygone era.
All of the hotel's 48 rooms and suites are decorated with beautiful teak furniture and Myanmar cottons and silks. There is a range of in-room spa treatments. The al fresco Mandalay restaurant serves local, Asian and European dishes under fragrant trees. The Burmese Curry Table is upstairs in the open-air dining room with views over the hotel's gardens and ponds. The atmospheric Kipling Bar is next door to it.
Located in Yangon's embassy district, just north of the downtown area. It's city centre location means that some of Yangon's main sites are very close, such as the Shwedagon Pagoda and Bogyoke Market.
How to get there
The Governor's Residence is a 30-minute drive from Yangon airport.
