About Azura Benguerra
Azura, on beautiful Benguerra Island, is Mozambiques luxurious 'eco'- boutique retreat. Built and operated in partnership with the local community, it has just 16 spacious 'beach chic' designer villas, each with a private infinity pool, located on a pristine white sand beach.
For families and friends, try their two bedroom Villa Amizade with a huge pool and its own wine bar, or the three bedroom Presidential Villa, with its own social area, treehouse lounge, 18m infinity pool, private chef and butler. This is the ultimate in seclusion and luxury.
Azura is now introducing the magnificent Royal Beach villas, the largest and most lavish of all the villas. With even more garden space, including a 10m rim flow pool with a Jacuzzi on the one end, and a poolside sitting pavilion on the other, these villas are the ultimate haven from which to enjoy the exceptional sea views.
All meals and house drinks are included, so enjoy their delicious local cuisine and wines from the owners Chateau in France, with candle-lit dining on the beach beneath the stars. They also offer a vast range of guided activities and experiences for you to enjoy with their environmentalist or community leader, as well as world class snorkelling, fishing and diving (you can learn to dive at their PADI 5 Star Watersports Centre). Located in a marine National Park, Azura has access to some amazing marine life, including dolphins, the shy endangered dugong, and migrating humpback whales. Top off your day with a treatment or relaxing massage at their unique beachfront African Spa.
Slow down and relax, this is barefoot luxury at its best. Come and discover why Azura has won multiple awards and accolades, including Best Beach Villas in the World 2010 in Conde Nast Traveller magazine.
Benguerra is the second largest island in the Bazaruto Archipelago, which is made up of five islands: Bazaruto, Benguerra, Magaruque, Banque (or Shell Island), and Santa Carolina (or Paradise Island). Santa Carolina is the only true volcanic island, whereas the others are sand based. It is approximately 11 km x 5.5 km and lies some 14 km north east of Vilanculos. It is famous for its unspoiled white beaches, remarkable dive sites and excellent fishing. Benguerra Island has about 2000 inhabitants and there are 313 children in the school which was built by Azura’s Rainbow Fund Charity. There are no shops other than small trading posts so please bring everything you may need with you, especially any medication you may require.
