Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort & Spa resides on the largest island within the jewel-like Bazaruto Archipelago, 30 kilometres east of mainland Mozambique on Africa's east coast. Declared part of the protected National Park in 1971, and with no modern distractions, guests find themselves immersed in an idyllic world of their own.
How to get there
Travel to the resort is a seamless affair. Nearby Vilanculos Airport can be reached via a direct two hour flight from Johannesburg.
There is a short hop to the island resort, which is a mere 25 minute flight from Vilanculos Airport, where there are daily flights.
A boat transfer to the island is also available, which takes 45 to 60 minuets from Vilanculos Airport.
When to go
High Season is mid-December to mid-January, Easter and the month of August.
Low Season is mid-January to the end of March, as well as early September to mid-December.
Should you choose to take the light aircraft from the mainland to Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort & Spa, you are requested to limit your luggage to a maximum of 20kg and to utilise soft luggage carriers.
South African passport-holders do not require a visa for leisure travel. For other nationalities, arrangement for a Mozambican visa is necessary.
The malaria situation is under control at Anantara Bazaruto Island Resort & Spa due to regular spraying programmes. All the rooms are equipped with mosquito-proof nets. However it is still recommend that you to take precautionary measures before going into a malaria area.
Travelling with children
Children are welcome and there is a Kid's Club available. Baby-sitting can be arranged via the Guest Services Department.
