About Malaysia

Why Travel to Malaysia with True Luxury Travel?

We can take you to hidden spots where the firefly displays are so immense they will put the night's sky to shame.

Explore the hidden world of Mount Kinabalu, it is not all about reaching the top. The faunas and orchids are the perfect excuses to stop and smell the flowers.

In Kuala Lumpur, we will take you on a journey through the botanical gardens, butterfly park and then on to the Batu Caves.

A wildlife adventure up the Kinabatangan River won’t be the same without our hand-picked selection of guides.

About the Country

Malaysia’s an extraordinarily diverse country with its eye-grabbing landscapes, misty highlands, dense rainforests, wildlife, beaches and modern cities.

For the adventurers, there are some very impressive treks to embark on. Hike up climb Mount Kinabalu, to the summit of South East Asia’s Highest Peak. You might also head to Mulu for some lighter trekking and also to explore multiple caves, experience the bat precession, swim in waterfalls, picnic in shady spots outside the caves and experience true village life.

Delve into the Jungle for wildlife experiences on the Kinabatangan River. Borneo Rainforest Lodge is located in a magnificent setting beside the Danum River, in Sabah’s largest protected area of lowland dipterocarp forest. Enjoy guided nature walks with experienced naturalists through undisturbed riverine and lowland dipterocarp forest. There are numerous opportunities to see a compendium of exciting creatures such as proboscis monkeys, orang-utans, silver leaf monkeys, pygmy elephants and an assortment of special bird species.

Malaysia’s Borneo is renowned for its beaches. With very few hotels to choose from, it's a very refreshing place to go on holiday. Langkawi, being one of them, consists of an archipelago of ninety-nine islands in the north-west corner of Peninsula Malaysia on the Thai-Malaysian sea border. You can enjoy the beach, surrounded by lush green vegetation and impressive limestone formations out to sea.

Kuala Terengganu is noted for its fishing villages and its long sandy beaches and unspoilt coral islands. You might also experience Leatherback turtles in the clear blue water.

Kuala Lumpur is the cosmopolitan capital of Malaysia. Explore the iconic Petronas Towers, tropical gardens, butterfly farms and sample food in Merdeka Square.

Head to the Cameron Highlands to escape the humidity and bustle of Kuala Lumpur. The Cameron Highlands is the largest of the hill resorts in Malaysia and is regarded as the green bowl supplying produce to major cities in Malaysia and Singapore.

The densely forested island is still sparsely inhabited. Also it is surrounded by numerous white coral reefs, making it a haven for scuba divers from around the region.

Practical info

Currency

The Currency in Malaysia is the Malaysian Ringgits. You can use US dollars as well in most establishments. However local currency is preferable while street shopping. ATMs are readily available in most built up areas, but you would incur bank charges for each withdrawal.

Travelling with Children

This is lodge specific, however the True Luxury Team will find you the best places to go when traveling with children to maximise family satisfaction.

Passports and Visas

Holders of passports issued by EU jurisdictions are granted visa-free entry to Malaysia for 90 days.

Vaccinations

Mosquito-borne diseases like dengue fever occur all year round. There has been an increase in the number of cases of dengue fever, including in Kuala Lumpur. You should take appropriate precautions to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes.

The states of Perlis, Kedah and Penang have been declared as rabies infected. You should take precautions to protect yourself if you’re travelling in these areas.
