About Tongole Wilderness Lodge
Situated on the banks of the winding Bua River, deep in the Miombo woodlands of the Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve, Tongole Wilderness Lodge offers its guests the ultimate eco-luxury experience.
The lodge has four double suites and a two-bedroom cottage, all of which benefit from breathtaking views over the river. Additional single beds can be added but there is great emphasis on an intimate and personal experience and therefore Tongole limits its guests to a maximum of ten at any one time. The two-bedroom cottage is ideal for families and couples wanting extra space and privacy. It has two bedrooms, one with a super-king size double bed, the second a twin/double, a spacious lounge and dining room and private deck area overlooking the river.
Each chalet has been built from locally sourced materials and fabrics, by the local community. All rooms are open fronted with spacious, private wooden decks offering you the opportunity to sit in peace and enjoy panoramic views of the river below and the Miombo woodlands beyond.
Super king size or twin double beds are complimented by luxurious en-suite bathrooms bedecked with twin marble basins, a flush loo, a wet room hot water shower as well as a inviting bathtub that doubles as a plunge pool with spectacular views.
The whole lodge offers a peaceful and calming haven during the heat of the day and incorporates the very best of Malawian culture. The main mess area is a short walk from your chalet and includes a open lounge, dining area and bar. There are various decking areas for guests to relax and enjoy the sprawling views - perfect for guests to enjoy a romantic and private dinner - and the 'high seat' area enables you to see right out over the tree tops and into the distance.
Malawi is situated between Zambia and Mozambique in the South East of Africa. Tongole Wilderness Lodge is set in the stunningly beautiful and unspoilt Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve. This reserve is the largest in Malawi and it is simply breathtaking.
The Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve is made up of dense forests and pockets of evergreens over escarpments and hills – it is the largest reserve in Malawi. It provides a home to a large variety of mammals and birdlife. There have been over 280 bird species recorded here.
Tongole Wilderness is situated just a short way away from the third largest Lake in Africa Lake Malawi, also known as the ‘Lake of Star’. The reserve is genuinely a hidden gem for those seeking a wilderness experience in a truly unspoilt environment.
