About Four Twenty South
Four Twenty South is so-called due to its latitude position that is almost exactly 4 degrees and 20 minutes South of the Equator. Guests staying at Four Twenty have the perfect opportunity to completely relax in three acres of peaceful tropical gardens right on the shore of the stunning Indian Ocean. The houses offer total privacy, apart from the occasional visiting monkey on the roof. What is on offer here, is the total privacy and freedom of your own home, minus the housework, with it being completely your decision on how your time is spent. Guests are completely in charge of their day-to-day activities eg. dining and have many activities to try, ranging from beauty treatments to kayaking.
The houses range in size, from two bedrooms to five. All of the houses have completely uninterrupted views of the Indian Ocean and have the stunning Diani Beach on their doorstep. The houses have all been renovated for ultimate comfort, yet still, retain their unique original character. Each of the properties comes with personal staff for cooking, cleaning, laundry, and they are there to ensure your stay is as relaxing as possible. The staff will happily shop for you, or alternatively, guests have the opportunity to purchase fresh seafood, seasonal fruits and vegetables right from the comfort of their property, as they are sold door-to-door by local traders.
The hotel has a rich heritage and still tries to live by its original ethos. The hotel is passionate about recycling and sustainable use of resources, with many of the doors and windows being recycled from demolished buildings, furniture being recycled or made from reclaimed material. The hotel lives as part of nature's cycle and does not water the gardens or waste water during the dry season. Nature's gifts are utilised, for example, the stunning lagoon in front of the hotel is treated as a natural spa and therefore they see no need for a swimming pool.
Four Twenty provides guests with a truly uniquely authentic, traditional beach holiday experience that is far removed from that of a soulless, modern beach resorts. The hotel gives guests the experience of living in harmony with the natural local environment, seasons and the tides of Galu Beach, believed to be one of Africa's finest and best kept secrets.
The hotel is within a stone's throw from Galu Beach. Galu Beach is a more private extension of Diani's beach powder white sand, and can sometimes be found without a single person on it. The beach is completely unspoiled and is argued by locals to be one of the world's most beautiful. Its neighbouring beach, Diani, has been voted the ''best beach in Africa'' by the World Travel Market, as well as ''one of the 25 best beaches in the world'' by Trip Advisor, so guests are exposed to truly stunning, world-class natural beauty.
Guests have the opportunity to explore many local attractions and activities, including trips to the reef and sandbank for snorkelling, a round of golf at the Golf Leisure Lodge Golf Club (10 minutes away) or trips to the local conservation centre, the Colobus Trust, where visitors can spend time with orphaned monkeys.

Kenya's Coast is generally hot and humid all year round, with average temperatures between 27 and 31â°C. October to January (especially November) is considered the best time to visit the coast as these months offer the best conditions for eg. snorkelling. This season also offers the best opportunity to see and swim with whale sharks, especially between January and March. There is a chance of rain on the coast throughout the year, but especially during the wet and hot season between mid-March to late-May.
This area is a malarial region and therefore anti-malarial medication is strongly recommended.
