The hotel is very nice - beautiful, set on the water, has a large outdoor hot tub. Staff very accommodating. Very near the Arctic Circle. The drive to Siglo Hotel at the very top of the Troll Peninsula along the coast was majestic.

About Siglo Hotel
Built into the fishermans marina, all rooms at Siglo hotel have wonderful views of the beautiful surrounding mountains and peaceful environment of Siglufjord. Surrounding Siglufjordâs small boat marina, Siglo hotel and the neighbouring restaurants make up what is called the Marina Village â a unique culinary experience providing some of the best cuisine of Iceland. How to get there
There are frequent flights between Reykjavik and Akureyri, with a short flight time of only 45 minutes. From Akureyri, it is an hours road transfer to Siglufjordur.
When to go
Weather in Iceland is often completely unpredictable. In summer there is a fair chance of bright and sunny days with temperatures reaching up to 17 degrees celcius. Winter weather in Iceland can be a frosty and dark affair with temperatures fluctuating around freezing point. Northern lights can be seen between September and January, with nights being light from mid May to early August, the sun never fully setting in June.
Its important to pack for any eventuality, preparing for wind and rain and bringing plenty of layers and suncream! Driving from Reykjavik to Siglufjordur is an adventure in itself. The breathtaking Icelandic scenery is sure to offer some great photo opportunities as you drive through mountain passes and across lava fields. Road conditions between Reykjavik and Siglufjordur are generally excellent but weather conditions might be an issue, particularly during the winter months.
