About Hong Kong

Hong Kong’s a busy city, home to over eight million inhabitants. With one of the busiest airport hubs, lots of people are constantly coming and going. Being an archipelago of some 235 rocks and islands, with plenty of markets, restaurants, sights and sounds, there’s a huge amount to fill your day with.

Hong Kong’s well-known for its deep natural harbour, impressive skyline and densely packed skyscrapers. People tend to stay just a few nights but in this time, you’ll be amazed by the diversity in Hong Kong’s rich culture and heritage.

It’s an intoxicating mix of historic sights, commerce and endless cuisine. Experience the city from a cable car, take a tram to the top of the Hong Kong Islands largest mountain, with 180-degree views of the skyscrapers of Victoria Harbour Kowloon or simply walk along the waterfront and through the markets packed full of unknown goods and interesting tastes and flavours.

It really is a wealth of fascinating attractions.

Practical info

The risks to health whilst travelling will vary between individuals and many issues need to be taken into account, e.g. activities abroad, length of stay and general health of the traveller. It is recommended that you consult with your General Practitioner or Practice Nurse 6-8 weeks in advance of travel. They will assess your particular health risks before recommending vaccines and /or antimalarial tablets. This is also a good opportunity to discuss important travel health issues including safe food and water, accidents, sun exposure and insect bites. Many of the problems experienced by travellers cannot be prevented by vaccinations and other preventive measures need to be taken.

Comprehensive travel insurance is essential, including medical cover. We also highly recommend trip cancellation cover. You are 100% financially protected through our membership of the Travel Trust Association.

Although Hong Kong is now part of the People’s Republic of China it remains a Special Administrative Region with its own immigration controls. You can visit Hong Kong for up to 6 months without a visa.

Your passport should be valid for at least one month after the date of your departure from Hong Kong.
