About Cambodia

Katie Kennard "I have travelled extensively in Cambodia. I particularly enjoy soaking up the atmosphere on the streets, sharing Khmer cuisine with the locals, whilst watching locals manoeuvre the streets on their bicycles".

Why Travel to Cambodia with True Luxury Travel?

Our guides will bring to life the stories of the histories of their people and their ways of life. Stories will relate to the Khmer Rouge Regime and Vietnam War, a fascinating topic and still very raw.

Feast your eyes on the temples in Siem Reap. We can guide you further afield to the Kulen Mountains for the Sras Damrei Temples. These ancient wonders of the world are best experienced when fewer tourists are about.

How it works

We support you before you go away with all the information you require, no request is too big or too small, when you are away we are always on hand with 24/7 support should you need us.

Once the greatest empire in Southeast Asia, Cambodia's colourful history and awe-inspiring sites make it one of the most exciting countries in the region to visit. Despite the numerous dramatical challenges with widespread poverty and corruption, the country has managed to maintain an unbreakable spirit and infectious optimism.

Cambodia’s landscape is a blend of rice paddies, sugar palm plantations and remote jungles. The country offers plenty of natural beauty for those striving to explore it.

Many people associate Cambodia with the Angkor Wat, and quite fairly so as it’s an architectural and artistic masterpiece. This UNESCO world Heritage site neighbours the UNESCO biosphere reserve of The Tonle Sap, Southeast Asia’s largest freshwater lake.

Cambodia’s busy capital, Phnom Penh sits at the junction of the Mekong River and Tonle Sap River. Having recovered from the dark legacy of the Pol Pot era in 1970, the city is now a vibrant economic centre, rich in history and offers a number of cultural and historical sites including the National Museum, Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda and Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (which was a former school converted into a torture centre and now has been preserved as a museum). You must also visit the Choeung Ek Killing Fields on the outskirts of the town.

Many head in the direction of the South West Coast of Cambodia for their beach time. Kep is a tiny coastal province in Southern Cambodia, the town is known for its oceanfront seafood stalls. Those seeing the most exclusive, remote beaches might enjoy Song Saa Private island in the Koh Rong Archipelago.

Where to go

Cambodia's second most populous city and a popular tourist destination due to the many nearby ancient temples, Buddhist shrines and the infamous bamboo railway. It is also the capital city of the Battambang province.

Today's Kep has recently become established as a Khmer holiday spot and is slowly being rediscovered by travelers.

Phnom Penh

Phnom Penh retains its former charm as a leafy South East Asian capital with a nice riverside promenade and numerous beautiful Cambodian Buddhist wats, palaces, and other artefacts.

Siem Reap

This once quaint village has become the largest boom town and construction site in Cambodia.

Sihanoukville is a seaside town featuring Cambodia's best-known beaches.

Temples of Angkor

The most famous are the Temple of Angkor Wat and, at Angkor Thom, the Bayon Temple with its countless sculptural decorations.

Practical info

The risks to health whilst travelling will vary between individuals and many issues need to be taken into account, e.g. activities abroad, length of stay and general health of the traveller. It is recommended that you consult with your General Practitioner or Practice Nurse 6-8 weeks in advance of travel. They will assess your particular health risks before recommending vaccines and /or antimalarial tablets. This is also a good opportunity to discuss important travel health issues including safe food and water, accidents, sun exposure and insect bites. Many of the problems experienced by travellers cannot be prevented by vaccinations and other preventive measures need to be taken.

Comprehensive travel insurance is essential, including medical cover. We also highly recommend trip cancellation cover. You are 100% financially protected through our membership of the Travel Trust Association.

Visa fees and conditions are subject to change. Check with The Royal Cambodian Embassy, or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International Co-operation website for the latest information.

Tourist visas issued by a Royal Cambodian Embassy abroad may appear to have a longer validity than 1 month. The validity of the visa refers to time you have to enter Cambodia. The visa is valid for 30 days from the actual date of entry into Cambodia. Make sure your passport is stamped on arrival, and keep the departure form. If you lose your departure form, you’ll need to contact immigration officials before you leave the country to make alternative arrangements.

Your passport should be valid for a minimum period of 6 months from the date of entry into Cambodia. Entry is normally refused if you have a damaged passport or pages missing.
