About Shinde Camp
Shinde is a cozy, exemplary camp situated on the edge of Shinde Lagoon, settled on a rich palm island in the heart of the northern Okavango Delta, which just abounds with animals and birdlife. The camps special main area involves a multi-tiered dining area and lounge which is set under canvas under the shade of ebony and mangosteen trees.
Shinde was refurbished in 2015. The elegance and historical charm of the iconic Shinde camp has been enhanced by enlarging the eight classic safari guest tents to incorporate a spacious bathroom with a large walk in shower and luxurious fittings.
Shinde can offer both water and land activities year round, courtesy of its location. Game drives are conducted by a personal guide in comfortable, specially designed game drive vehicles. Motorboats or Mokoro provide a chance to experience the incredible bird, plant and reptile species found in the aquatic habitat of the Okavango Delta.

When to go
June to August is high water season with the best opportunities for boating and canoe safaris. Many animals migrate to the delta at this time and the resulting game viewing plus the mild, dry and largely mosquito-free winter climate make this period the best time for an Okavango Delta Safari.
Hot and dry September and October are also particularly good months to visit the Okavango Delta as thirsty animals are concentrated in enormous numbers on its fringes (the Moremi Game Reserve is particularly rewarding at this time) while the November to April rainy summer season sees the Okavango Delta transform from an excellent bird watching destination to a sensational one.Â
Botswanan banks only accept US Dollars, GBP Sterling, Euro and South African Rand in cash. Any cash payments made to camps for curios, or gratuities to guides or staff, need to be in one of these currencies. Travellers Cheques in any of the above currencies are also acceptable.
Travelling with children
Shinde Camp accepts children 10 years of age and over.
