About Kwando Lagoon
Kwando Lagoon Camp accommodates 18 guests in eight twin-bedded safari-style tents. Each tent looks out over the water and has en-suite facilities and modern amenities.
At Lagoon Camp, morning and night game drives are conducted by guides and trackers in open safari vehicles. This area is home to huge herds of elephant and buffalo; there are few places in Africa where such concentrated numbers of these animals exist, especially in the dry season, and a family of hippo and an elephant or three are regularly sighted from the tents, which contributes to the relaxed calm that prevails at Lagoon.
Lagoonâs staff are there to look after you efficiently, and to ensure a peaceful stay. There is a guest pool in which to cool off during the hot months, and freshly prepared delicious meals are served in the thatched dining room overlooking the tranquil waters of the lagoon.
Lagoon is perched on the banks of the wild Kwando River, overlooking the Mudumu National Park in the Namibian Caprivi Strip.
How to get there
It is an 11-hour international flight to Johannesburg, followed by a 2-hour international flight to Maun. For Kwando airstrip its then a 30-minute flight in a light aircraft. From Kwando airstrip, it usually takes 20 to 30 minutes to reach Lagoon Camp with some game viewing on the way.
When to go
Botswanaâs winter is during our British summer, and the weather is hot during the day, but it isn't a stifling heat, and cold at night. The summer months (British winter) can be hot and humid and there is a chance of rain. Botswana has one rainy season which runs between mid-December and runs through to mid-March
Travelling with children
There is a minimum age of 8 years at Kwando Lagoon Camp. Those families who choose to book a âFamily Safariâ have their own private vehicle with their own guide and tracker who will look after them both on game drives and in camp. The guide will also accompany them throughout their stay, moving with them through the Kwando camps. Caring for the children is a full time job and continues beyond the game drive and in camp, thereby allowing the parents some well earned rest!
