About &Beyond Nxabega Okavango Tented Camp
&Beyond Nxabega Okavango tented camp is situated in the middle of the Okavango Delta surrounded by reed-filled grassland and waterways which can be explored by boat or traditional Mokoro. The accommodation is made up entirely of luxury tents with outdoor/indoor showers, relaxing seating areas with expansive views over the delta providing the ultimate tranquility.
The camp offers a combination of simplicity and luxury, mixing the breathtaking scenery with complete style and comfort. It is an ideal location for couples, families, small groups, adventure lovers, celebrations and first time travellers to Botswana. The camp offers its guests opportunities to experience both land and water activities.
The camp is located in the midst of the huge Okavango Delta in Northern Botswana. It is near the Moremi Game reserve, and the closest town to it is Tubu.
How to get there
Flight to Maun international airport (MUB), then private flight to the airstrip at the camp. Please note that in months of higher water levels (July/October), it is often necessary for guests to arrive into Pom Pom airstrip, as the camp airstrip is unsafe for the air traffic to land into. Pom Pom Airstrip can be up to 2 hours from the camp, however it will only be necessary to land there when it is impossible or unsafe to land elsewhere or at the camp airstrip, which of course is relatively close to waterways and so is prone to flooding.
When to go
The camp is open all year round. The hottest months of the year in the area are December to February, where average daily temperatures can be as high as 40 degrees, with high humidity. Heavy afternoon thunderstorms are experienced in the months between December and March, so the climate is very varied. The best months to visit with minimal rainfall are from March to December.
Anti-malaria tablets are advisable all year round. We recommend you check with your physician for prophylaxis advice. Mosquito repellent sprays are provided, and we recommend that long sleeves and pants are worn in the evenings and early mornings.
Travelling with children
Children of any age are permitted to stay at the camp, and it is a family friendly camp. Babysitters are available at the camp. There are therefore no restrictions regarding children at this camp.
