About Hoshinoya Kyoto
Reached by a picturesque 15-minute boat ride from Central Kyoto. The peaceful grounds of Hoshinoya are covered in cedar trees and cherry blossoms. Hoshinoya Kyoto was built from a riverside villa in Arashiyama, where serenity and luxury have been perfectly preserved ever since. The resort continues to embrace these qualities, and builds on them, creating a resort that combines the comfort of modern living with the importance of the area's past.
There are many free activities to enjoy, such as early morning meditation, tea-drinking ceremonies and incense burning appreciation. All the suites and rooms look out onto the trees and river below. The rooms have been modernised just enough to ensure optimal levels of comfort, without sacrificing the traditional Japanese architecture.
A traditional dinner in the restaurant comes in nine intricate courses, 'kaiseki' style or more familiar dishes are also available. The bar stocks a vast choice of Japanese whiskies.
Hoshinoya Kyoto is located on the Oi River in the Ogurayama area.
How to get there
The Hoshinoya boat ride waiting area is a 30 minute taxi ride from Kyoto station, from which it is a 15 minute riverboat journey to the Hoshinoya Kyoto.
